What's New for the 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is fresh off the press with some exciting and notable new updates. The 2021 Wrangler still excels this year for its off-road potential, and it brings back its many options for customization. The Wrangler gets an optional diesel engine this year, which gives more opportunities for Wrangler fans to save on fuel while still enjoying their favorite outdoor adventures. There are some more trail-worthy elements in store for the Wrangler, including a new plug-in hybrid version with four-wheel drive. Some new special editions are introduced this year, too, including the 80th Anniversary and Islander trims. An off-road camera is now included in the Wrangler as well. Another new trim, called the Rubicon 392, comes with a powerful V8 engine.

Performance and handling are at their best yet in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Some engines return for 2021, but there are some new options for power as well. The base engine remains the same, which is a V6 that has a displacement of 3.6L. The base engine's power output is 285 HP, and it produces 260 LB-FT of torque. You can select the mild-hybrid system with this engine for improved fuel economy. The base engine is offered with either a manual or an automatic transmission. Another option is a turbo engine with a 2.0L displacement. This engine bumps up the Wrangler's torque output to 295 LB-FT. The diesel engine, which is newly available this year, is a 3.0L engine capable of 260 HP and over 440 LB-FT in torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes with this engine. New in 2021 is the option for a V8 engine with the Wrangler that delivers 470 HP. You'll get 470 LB-FT of torque, which is the most available in a Wrangler engine, and an eight-speed transmission. The Jeep's hybrid engine, also available in 2021, creates 375 HP and 470 LB-FT in torque.

Four trim levels are offered for the 2021 Wrangler. The first is the Sport trim, ready for adventures with 17-inch steel wheels, tow hooks, fog lights, and skid plates. The interior contains cloth upholstery and manually locking doors. There's also a five-inch display screen with an infotainment system. The Sport S brings alloy wheels and a leather steering wheel to the mix, while the Sahara gets larger wheels, chrome accents, and a larger seven-inch display. Heavy-duty axles, fender flares, and 33-inch tires come with the Rubicon, and the Rubicon 392 gets the new engine.
