The 2019 Jeep Cherokee is a small SUV that’s smooth and comfortable on the pavement and plenty capable over rugged terrain. Its standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine kicks up dust with 180 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. Two optional engines offer even higher power. We’re especially big fans of the optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which maxes out at 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. All Cherokee trim levels offer optional all-wheel drive, except for the off-road-ready Trailhawk, which comes standard with this traction-inducing equipment.

On the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, you’ll find even higher power. This midsize, five-passenger SUV comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine rated for 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. There are four increasingly powerful engines available to the Cherokee, the most notable of which is the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8. It pumps out 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque for blazing speed.

Appearance

Both the 2019 Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee feature trademark Jeep style, with rugged stances and simple grille design. The Cherokee is a small SUV, so it’s perhaps better suited to urban landscapes and parallel parking spaces. The Grand Cherokee is a midsize SUV, which means more legroom for passengers, but also a more significant presence, on-road and off.
