2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Serving Fairfax, VA

The popular Jeep Grand Cherokee will debut its fifth generation in 2022, bringing impressive upgrades to its style and capabilities. This midsize SUV offers two rows of seating and a great selection of desired features from bumper to bumper. While you may already be set on driving home in a new Grand Cherokee, you may still be deciding between model years and trims. What are the differences between the 2021 and 2022 versions?

Performance

The Grand Cherokee has a long-standing reputation for meeting drivers’ expectations behind the wheel. The two powertrains offered for 2021 are still available in select 2022 trims. These are a V8, 5.7-liter, 357-horsepower gas engine and a V6, 3.6-liter, 293-horsepower alternative. In addition, the 2022 model year introduces a plug-in hybrid 4xe engine that delivers 375 total horsepower. For both years, select trims also have a two-speed transfer case with four-wheel drive, an adaptive air suspension, hill descent control, an electronic rear limited-slip differential, hill ascent, and a disconnecting stabilizer bar.

Appearance

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been boldly restyled but retains its identifiable character. Compared to the 2021 version, the 2022 Grand Cherokee has a boxier look, a taller, well-defined hood, and a flatter nose. The grille keeps its rectangular elements, but it is shorter. The LED headlights have a shorter and more rectangular look. The lower-front fascia also takes on a more powerful look for 2022, and the side doors are smoother.

Features

For 2022, the Grand Cherokee has the most up-to-date UConnect 5 infotainment technology, an available display screen for the front passenger, and a digital driver’s gauge. Other equipment carries over. For both years, select trims offer a power liftgate, a navigation system, a wireless charging pad, driver’s aids, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, memory settings and heat for the front row, and other desired features.
